Sail is a contemporary fiber wall sculpture inspired by the quiet strength of a sail in motion, capturing the balance between tension, wind, and graceful movement through sculptural knotting.

This piece is part of my ongoing exploration of sculptural fiber forms inspired by maritime elements. Using cotton cords and structured knotting, I translate the movement and quiet strength of sails into contemporary fiber sculpture.

Sail was inspired by the way a sail receives the wind, not by resisting it, but by shaping itself around its force. Its sweeping silhouette echoes the curve of sails filled with wind, balancing strength and softness. The textured knots invite both visual and tactile engagement, grounding the work in maritime tradition while elevating it into a contemporary sculptural form.

That dialogue between softness and strength is a recurring thread in my practice. I’m drawn to forms that appear effortless yet rely on structure and tension to hold their presence.
